The Pandemic did not affect the progress of the CASA-1000 Construction. Works on the Project in Tajikistan will be completed in time – before the end of 2021

DUSHANBE, 17.07.2020 / NIAT “Khovar” /. The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which has affected almost all countries of the world, did not affect the progress of construction work under the CASA-1000 project. The construction of power transmission lines under this energy project in Tajikistan will be completed on time, that is, by the end of 2021. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Jamshed Shoimzoda on July 13 at a press conference in Dushanbe.

“The work is being carried out according to the plan. To date, more than 30% of the necessary construction equipment has been delivered to the republic. In agreement with the Ministry of Energy, negotiations have been completed between the contractor Kalpataru and Nokili TALCO on the purchase of 1,780 km of cable for 9.7 million somoni, ”Jamshed Shoimzoda said.

Recall that the CASA-1000 project includes four countries: Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The idea of the project is to export electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is expected that 70% of the electricity that will go through it to Afghanistan and Pakistan will be from Tajikistan, 30% from Kyrgyzstan.
